A message from your County Councillor - August 2018

For the third year in a row August started with the New Day Festival at Hernhill. Perhaps not the best line-up for my taste but Caravan, Carl Palmer and Curved Air were brilliant.

I think the only Committee to meet at County Hall in August was the Regulation Committee Home to School Transport Appeals Panels which met for four complete days of hearings. I Chaired three of the four days.

Once again, this year we got away for a week with some of the younger members of our extended family, ten in total, plus our two border collies. Bude in Cornwall again this year, plenty of walks along the Beaches, Coastal Path and Canal, also time spent in the outside swimming pool. Both probably good for me, not so a number of Cornish Cream Teas!

I did attend Selling Parish Council earlier in the month. Also Swale Borough Council is revisiting its Corporate Plan. As part of the consultation for this we have offered to visit any Parish Council which wishes to host a discussion. In August the Head of Policy and I have attended a joint meeting of Leysdown and Warden Bay Parish Councils plus local residents which was hosted by Warden Bay Parish Council in their Village Hall. Later in the month we attended Bredgar Parish Council in a similar capacity although as Bredgar is within my County Division I stayed for most of their meeting also. We have several more such events booked throughout September which is always the busiest month of the year.
